The first international standtand, ISO 23314-2 "Risk Assessment and Risk reduction of BWMS using electrolytic Methods" is officially released on November 17th. The standtard is edited by SunRui Marine Environmental Engineering Co., LTD, and sets a milestone in the field of electrolytic ballast water treatment. The international standard project was officially set up in 2018. The project group had organized several international conferences and solicited opinions from IMO, port state authorities, classification societies, ballast water management system manufacturers and third-party testing organizations worldwide. The Final Draft International Standard was unanimously adopted by all member countries, supported by main members countries including China, Denmark, Japan, Korea, Panama, Switzerland, USA and etc. According to the requirements of the IMO CODE for Ballast Water Management System (BWMS CODE), all ballast water management systems must carry out a risk assessment during type approval. The ISO 23314-2 standard mainly provides the principles, methods and procedures for risk assessment and risk reduction, and supplements in the BWMS CODE in detail. It provides a strong technical reference and support for global electrolysis ballast water management system manufacturers, port state authorities, classification societies and shipowners.
